BBYW Vol. 4 Chapter 58 (WN)
Chapter 58 – The Abominable Evil Deity
“Enough with the bullshit illusions.”
I cut apart the illusion before me and sneered.
Thanks to Siegfried’s ability to neutralize magic, the mirage someone was forcing me to watch had vanished. I was back in the room filled with gold.
After the disgusting show I was subjected to, I could feel a surge of anger swell up inside me.
“…at the very least, now I know who the enemy I have to cut down is. And it’s not the pretty lady over here.”
“………..”
I looked at Nefertina, still silently sitting on her throne — then pointed my blade at the enemy beyond her.
For a while, Siegfried had been pulsating in my hand.
The instincts let me know for sure that my prediction was correct.
My trusted blade too felt that the time had come: it would soon fulfill the original reason for its existence. Its fated nemesis was close, very close.
(Captain Drake said that…the deities of good, before leaving this world, created this sword to slay evil deities.)
“Come on out!! I know you’re here, abominable, rotten evil deity!!”
“Abominable…? Rotten??? You humans sure say strange things~~”
The queen on the throne — Nefertina’s body shuddered violently. Her thin back bent backwards, so abruptly I thought her spine would snap. Her mouth opened to its limits.
A single, purple eyeball emerged from her lips. All around it there were thin snake-like tendrils, waving and squirming.
The eyeball rising from Nefertina’s interiors, wide-eyed, reflected my figure on its surface, like a crystal ball.
“Evil deity Nyarlathotep…hah, you really showed up. Rather kind of you, to come all the way here to get killed.”
“Human~~? Are you seriously saying you will kill me~~? So, so strange…as if something like that was possible~~!”
The eyeball deity cackled, in its insufferable tone, then extended its tentacles. The disgusting appendages did not aim for me, however, but for Nefertina.
“I’m just playing with my toys, see–? Why would I have to be killed by you~~?”
“…enough of your bullshit. How many people do you think have died, because of your sick games?”
“People? Humans? They’re nothing but toys for gods to play with. Even if they break, sooner or later there’s more of them~~”
“…………”
I see, I see.
So this is what a god…an evil deity is like, huh.
We might speak the same language, but there is no way we can understand each other.
Grett Baal and Captain Drake too spoke and acted however they pleased, but not even they treated human lives so lightly.
(An enemy that has to be eliminated. Monsters incapable of coexistence. Indeed…a true enemy of all mankind.)
While I painfully realized how much of a threat the evil deities were, the black tentacles wrapped around Nefertina’s body.
Neck, arms, legs, waist…the tentacles left nothing untouched. They even buried themselves under her clothes, squirming.
The thinner tendrils penetrated her ears, mouth and even nostrils, producing squishy, almost erotic sounds, as they feasted on the young girl’s body.
In other circumstances, it might have been a titillating sight. The horrific display before my eyes, however, did nothing but enrage my nerves even more.
“…what a revolting sight. It’s high time I put an end to your misery!”
“Wahaha!! You’ll really kill me~~? If you do, the girl dies too, you know?? This poor little baby girl, guilty of being manipulated by yours truly~~??”
The black tentacles rubbed the girl’s cheeks, leaving a trail of slime.
“She didn’t do any~~thing wrong, did she~~? It’s all the fault of this country’s clerics…and me~~! She’s just a poor little victim. How could you kill poor, lovely Nefertina~~?”
“…you think you can use her as a hostage? You’re rotten both inside and outside, then.”
I tightened the grip on the hilt of my sword and glared at the evil deity’s eyeball.
Naturally, Nyarlathotep wasn’t affected at all, and simply cackled.
“Ghahahaha!! Hahahaha!! Hahaha!! Aah, poor little creature…her only family and lover stolen, her body possessed by an evil deity, used and abused her whole life! And now, she’ll be killed without mercy! Aaaah, poor little Nefertina!”
“Shut up already.”
“Wheee?”
I wasted no more time.
I kicked the ground to propel myself forward, then slashed the giant eyeball in two.
The tentacles sprouting from the pupil tried to intercept me, but I cut through them as well.
“Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear…you think that would kill me…?”
“Nope, I don’t. The killing starts now.”
Even after cutting through the eyeball, Siegfried’s throbbing didn’t stop. The burning pulse of the sword transmitted an alert to my hand.
(Don’t worry, I got this. The main body…is here!!)
“HAAAAAHH!!”
I flipped the blade and pierced it through Nefertina’s chest. From the wound, a black substance erupted.
The response I felt through my right arm was clear. This darkness was the evil deity’s actual body.
The eyeball was just for show: the evil deity’s critical spot was inside the girl’s body.
“GWYEEEEHHHHH!?! WHYYYYY!?!”
Its weakness exposed, Nyarlathotep screamed. The tendrils wrapped around Nefertina thrashed about on the floor, in pain.
The evil deity, between its roars and howls of terror, finally realized that I really had the ability to kill it. The eyeball, still torn in two, trembled and shuddered, as if begging to be spared.
Such a prayer, though, fell on deaf ears. I was not going to leave the creature any chance of survival.
“Cleave through magic, Siegfried!”
“GWAAAAARRRRHHH!!!”
I activated my sword’s ability to cut through all magic — to kill even gods.
The god-slaying power penetrated the open wound, and Nyarlathotep’s life vanished.
“GWAAAHHH!! I DDDDISSSSAPPEAAARRR? I, I, I DISSSSSAAAAAAAHHH!!!!”
The eyeball crumbled on the ground. The tentacles fiddling with Nefertina’s body too vanished, as if consumed by fire.
The evil deity who continued to create undead armies for centuries, responsible for the deaths of countless people…was finally gone. The monster threatening all of humanity had vanished, almost too quickly and easily.
