After that, Reito and the others resumed their exploration.
However, within a few seconds, a new monster appeared.
“Giiiiiiiiiiiiiii!”
“Giiiiiiiii!”
“A-A goblin?!”
“And it’s not an ordinary one either! It’s a hobgoblin, a higher species of goblin!”
When Reito and the others reached the passage that split into two, a muscular goblin as tall as an adult man appeared in front of them.
Then, more than a dozen of them appeared. Many of them wore armor and shields that seemed to have been stolen from adventurers.
The first to attack was a hobgoblin carrying a large shield used by the giants.
“Giiiiiiiiiiii!”
“Huh?!”
The goblin, hiding behind its large shield, lunged at Hanzo, who was in the lead, and tried to push her away. However, Hanzo turned her eyes to the wall and ran towards it before the goblin could collide with her.
“Secret technique! Wall Running!”
“Gyaaah!”
“Ohhh!”
Hanzo ran up the wall of the passage, dodging the goblin that was charging at her. At the same time, she swung her sword from behind and sliced its neck. The other goblins were stunned by Hanzo’s action.
Gonzo kicked the goblin, who was about to fall after its neck was slashed.
“Kick Strike!”
“Guggiiii!”
Gonzo kicked his heel with all his might, and it hit the large shield, knocking the goblin off along with the shield. Then it crashed into the other goblins behind him.
The hobgoblin seemed to sense the danger, so it stopped watching and attacked.
“Giiiiiiiiiiiii!!”
“Here they come!! Dain!!”
“I know!! Shadow Slip!”
Dain stabbed his staff into the ground at the horde of goblins rushing out of the passage, and his shadow transformed into a whip, sweeping the horde away from their feet. The enemy, however, noticed the shadow approaching from their feet and jumped in front of it to avoid it.
“Giiiiiiiiii!!”
“They dodged it!!”
“No, that’s enough!!”
“Let’s go!!”
All the goblins successfully dodged the shadow magic, but Reito and Shizune, seeing this, ran out and fired their weapons at the goblin in front of them.
“Heeeee!!”
“Gyaaa!!”
“Ahh!!”
“Ggiiiiiiiiii…!!”
One of the goblins was cut off along with its armor by the blade of the greatsword, and the other was stabbed in the head and died. Reito then swung his left hand and struck another goblin with his palm before it hit the ground.
“’Wind Blast’!!”
“Gugeh?!”
“Giiiiii?”
The goblins that were about to land were blown away by the wind pressure that was released like a shock wave. Shizune looked impressed after seeing what had happened.
“Wow… that’s an interesting technique.”
“Yeah, I guess.”
“Gyaah?!”
Reito swung his Extermination Blade at the goblin, who had lost its balance. Not to be outdone, Shizune swung her Four Seasons and took down another enemy. Before the opponent could fully recover, Hanzo and Gonzo moved in as well.
“Unsheathe!”
“Grrr!”
“Fist Strike!”
“Grrr!”
The goblin horde gradually thinned out, and by the time they managed to regain their positions, nearly half of the goblins were already lying dead on the ground.
Normal goblins would run away when half of their companions were killed, but these goblins were more ferocious than monsters in the outside world, and they didn’t even consider running away or retreating.
“Grrr!”
“Eeek!”
The large hobgoblin who seemed to be the leader pointed at Dain, who had low athletic ability, and the other goblins aimed at the mage Dain.
Reito tried to go towards him, but the large goblin who gave the orders stood in front of him.
“Gihihih!!”
“Out of my way, you big goblin!!”
“Guguiiii!!”
Reito swung his Extermination Blade at the large hobgoblin, who let out an eerie voice.
The hobgoblin quickly blocked it with the handle of its battle axe, but its huge body shook from the impact. This was despite the fact that the opponent was smaller than the goblin and the attack was launched with only one hand. The hobgoblin’s expression was distorted, but in the meantime other goblins were heading towards Dain.
“Gii!!”
“Whoaaa!! D-Don’t come any closer!!”
“Gufuu!!”
The moment the first one tried to jump at Dain, the tip of his staff hit the goblin’s face and he fell to the ground.
Dain’s staff had to be stabbed into the ground every time he used shadow magic, so the tip was sharpened like the tip of a spear. The goblin was stabbed in the eyeball and died.
“Ohhh! You’re killing it!”
“Stop praising me and just help me!”
“Wait for me!”
“Giiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!”
One after the other, however, other goblins made their way to Dain. Hanzo and Gonzo went to Dain’s side, shaking off the goblins that got in their way.
“Waah!”
“Too slow!”
While the other humans headed to Dain’s support, Reito exchanged blades with the leader hobgoblin, deflecting its battle axe with the blades of his Extermination Blade and Reflection Sword.
“Haaah!”
“Waah…!”
The hobgoblin lost its balance after the battle axe was deflected, and Reito stepped forcefully into the ground while still holding his Extermination Blade. Not wanting to miss this golden opportunity, he simultaneously activated his “Gravity Strike Blade”, “Gale Sword”, and even “Helmet Splitter” combat techniques to unleash an accelerated sword attack.
“Wooooooow!!”
“Guggiiiiiiiiiiiii!”
A slash from a single arm struck the hobgoblin’s head, slicing its flesh in half. It even cut through the armor it was wearing, and the huge body, torn in two, fell to the ground.
Reito felt pain in his arm, but was relieved when suddenly another jumped on him from behind.
“Guggiiii!!”
“Don’t look away!!”
“Whoa!!”
“Agh!!”
Shizune stabbed Four Seasons across Reito’s face from in front of him, and the blade pierced the goblin’s head, sending blood flying.
Meanwhile, Hanzo and Gonzo seemed to have taken down the goblins that were swarming around Dain, and Dain was breathing heavily as he clutched his blood-stained staff.
“H-How is it… Don’t think that I can only use magic!!”
“Phew… that was close.”
“They were tougher than a normal goblin, that they are.”
“Let’s leave immediately as soon as we catch our breath. Other monsters will smell the blood and come.”
“And you collect the experience stones while you say that…”
Shizune dismembered the goblin’s corpse with practiced hands and collected the experience stones, and Reito and his friends followed her example and searched through the goblin’s corpses.
