NBAA Vol. 8 Chapter 7 Part 1

CHAPTER 7

After many twists and turns, the wolf cart arrived at the adventure city before dawn.

Everyone decided to stay at Reito’s house tonight.

The reason was that the Battle Festival was coming up soon, so all the inns were full, and in fact there were no inns open at the current time. So, they decided to stay at Reito’s house for the time being, take a nap, and then everyone except Kotomin would look for a place to stay.

“I’ll go back to the Hailstorm guild first and report to Maria-sama, that I will.”

“I see… I get it. Say hello to my sis aunt.”

“I don’t think you should call her that, that I don’t… Well then, please excuse me!”

“Just go like a normal person.”

Hanzo left everyone here to report, and moved along the roofs to the Hailstorm guild.

After seeing her off, Reito and the others went inside the house, and Kotomin was the first to collapse on the floor

“I’m back… and good night.”

“Hey, don’t sleep on the floor! Sleep properly in the jar!”

“…that’s bothersome, carry me.”

As soon as Kotomin returned, she tried to lie down with Suramin as her pillow, but Reito quickly picked her up and threw her into a large jar of water in the corner of the room.

It may seem inhumane, but as a mermaid, Kotomin could rest better in the water, so he threw her in with the slimes.

“Good night Kotomin.”

“Hmm… I want a good night kiss (chu-chu~).”

“Yes, yes… um,  chu-chu~!”

“I didn’t tell you to imitate me… but you’re cute, so I’ll forgive you.”

“Would you prefer the mascot character from a certain amusement park? Haha.”

“I don’t really get what you’re saying.”

Kotomin curled up in the jar and sank. Normal humans would drown to death, but mermaids prefer cold, pure water, and slimes also sleep floating on the surface.

They were living creatures, so they needed to sleep. When Reito closed the lid on the jar and turned to look at the others, Dain was already sitting in a chair, face down on the desk, not moving. Gonzo was sleeping in the garden, covered in warm fur, leaning his body against Ullr.

“Hmmmm… three more days, just give me three more days…”

“Even in your dreams, you’re being chased by debt collectors?”

“Grrr…”

“Kuuuu~”

“Let him sleep.”

Ullr looked troubled as Gonzo slept with his weight on his stomach, but when Reito called out to him, he calmed down as if there was no other way, while Mina and Shizune were fighting over the sofa.

“Hey you… I’m going to use that sofa.”

“No… I’m at my limit, so give it up to me!”

“You were asleep just now, weren’t you? I’m more tired than you, so don’t bother.”

“I’m sleepy because I woke up halfway…”

Shizune, as expected, was exhausted from using Four Seasons, so she tried to rest on the sofa, but Mina clung to her waist, and they ended up collapsing on the sofa in an embrace. Reito had intended to lend one of them his bed, but as soon as he lay down, he fell asleep, so he ended up using the bed himself.

“It’s been a while since I’ve been back to my house… What is this?”

Someone must have brought a letter, but there was no sender’s name on it, so Reito opened it and checked the contents, wondering what it was. He thought it might be a letter from Maria, Nao, or Ferris, but the paper inside had a pattern that looked like a combination of a leaf and a crescent moon.

“What is this…Whoa?”

Reito was suspicious of the paper with only a pattern on it, but he unconsciously raised his palm and the pattern disappeared. He didn’t remember doing anything special, but as soon as the pattern disappeared, letters appeared.

“Oh, it’s like magic…Ah, magic.”

Reito, remembering that he was in a world where magic existed, turned his gaze to the displayed letters and tilted his head when he saw the contents.

“I’ll come to pick you up tonight.”

“What is this?”

Reito thought the incomprehensible text was a prank, but it was too elaborate for that, and he was curious and tried to contact Airis to find out who the letter was from, but he was suddenly overcome by sleepiness and covered his eyes.

“I’m sleepy… Whatever, I’ll sleep first.”

Judging that it was impossible to move to the bed, Reito leaned his back against the wall and closed his eyes. Believing that Ullr would wake him up if someone came, he was lured into the world of dreams.
