SIAW Vol. 1 Chapter 10 Part 1
Chapter 10 – Misha’s Request
After that, Ranga, Jeet and Zlatan went hunting every day, managing to catch around 24 Horn Rabbits per day. After every hunt, they discussed how it went, came up with solutions for their problems, new formations, etcetera. It didn’t look like they needed me watching over them anymore.
Ranga continued to try to increase his magic power: he had other things to do too, so he could only do so two or three times a day, but he was seeing results.
The village kids, on the other hand, had grown a bit bored of practicing with Throwing. A 13 years old Monkey Beastman boy, though, had managed to learn the skill. His speed and accuracy were clearly higher than before: seeing how much he improved, the other children regained their motivation.
All in all, things seemed to be progressing in the right direction.
I had finished fixing the stoves in all of the village’s houses, and finished reinforcing the village’s outer fence too.
Ranga’s group hunted enough already, so I focused on culling the monsters’ population recently. The process could be said to be complete in the area in a few kilometers’ radius from the village.
The traveling salesman was supposed to be arriving soon, but my preparations to leave the village were already done.
◇ ◇ ◇ ◇
That day, I thought about going hunting with Ranga, for the first time in a while, and to see how his training was coming along. I was thus walking towards the gate.
“Hey there! I defeated a few Goblins, and even managed to take down a Forest Wolf yesterday.”
“Yes, Ranga told me about it. You’re doing well.”
On the way there, I bumped into Jeet. Zlatan joined in too, so we chatted as we headed towards the gate. When we arrived, Ranga was waiting.
“Hey, you were all together? Don’t leave me out!”
Everyone laughed and replied.
“I just joined them over there.”
“Whatever, let’s go!”
“Yeah!!”
The three were in high spirits. I said I planned to go with them, but Ranga said something unexpected.
“Tenma, are you going hunting with Misha?”
Eh!? Where did that come from?
I was taken aback, when I noticed that Misha had popped up next to me, out of nowhere.
“Yes, I’m going hunting with Tenma today!”
What!? How!? Why!? What the…!?
“I trained Misha in the past, and she can use Presence Detection too, so I guess she’ll be all right. Take care of her, Tenma!”
Take care of her…? Even if I was reincarnated in the body of a fourteen year old, mentally I was over 40…what was I supposed to do with Sasha’s little sister, who was as old as a high school freshman in my old world!?
Besides, just the other day the whole village plotted to get us to marry, and she was all happy when I refused! I bet she hated me!
I just couldn’t be alone with her!!!
~
When I returned from my internal screaming to reality…
Misha was proceeding ahead of me, her ears busily scanning the surroundings, her fluffy tail waving about.
Sasha’s fur was a slightly dark shade of orange, but Misha was closer to light orange, even yellow.
I want to touch it so bad…ahem. I should be thinking about why this was happening instead.
While I was still dazed and confused, we went out of the village gate: Ranga and the others, with silly grins on their faces, raised their right hands and dashed into a different direction.
Misha and I looked at them go…so in the end it was only the two of us!
Despite the confusion, I saw on the Map that there was a Horn Rabbit nearby, so I flicked a pebble over Misha’s shoulder and took it down.
I immediately stored it and started walking.
“Tenma.”
She was a very pretty fifteen year old girl, closely resembling Sasha.
“Tenma!!”
Just the other day, she was offered as my bride.
“TENMA!!!”
Pow!
All of a sudden, she whacked me over the head. That hurt!
“What was that for?”
“What was that for, you ask!? I’ve been calling you for ages! Don’t ignore me!”
“Ah, sorry.”
I had to calm down.
“I have something to talk with you about…actually, I need your advice.”
“Sure, once we’re back let’s talk about it.”
Why was she asking for advice in the middle of a hunt?
