“I-Is this really inside your Room!?”
“It is indeed. With this, there’s no need to set up camp outside while adventuring, nor is there any risk of being attacked by monsters.”
“There are other doors too!”
“When the Room skill levels up, the number of available rooms increases too.”
“Magic…levels?”
“You know that magic spells and skills have levels, right?”
“I heard from Ranga that skills probably have levels, but I never heard the same about magic.”
Could it be? She didn’t know about magic levels?
“When Lifestyle Magic reaches level 4, you learn the spell ‘Clear’, and at level 5 ‘Room’. Misha, your Lifestyle Magic is level 3, so you can use ‘Light’ and ‘Sleep’, right?”
“I didn’t know that…the number of spells gradually increased, so I did think that maybe there were levels, or something, involved…”
Her assumption probably came from her knowledge of skill levels.
“The spell ‘Time’ only tells you what time it is at first, right? At level 1 it shows hour and minutes, at level 2 the date. Didn’t you know?”
“Nope, not at all.”
“I see…please take a seat over there.”
I pointed at the table and chair next to the entrance, then headed to the storage room. Inside, I took one of the chairs I had made in the past from an Item Box, then took a magic tool and went back.
I put the chair next to the table and sat down myself; then, I showed the bracelet-shaped magic tool to Misha.
“Tenma, you’re giving me a present!?”
“It’s not a present, it’s a magic tool. Put it on your arm.”
Misha seemed a bit disappointed, but she wore the magic tool. The bracelet automatically changed shape to match her arm, much to Misha’s surprise.
“Now try chanting the word ‘Status’. You can say it out loud, or just think it.”
Misha nodded. She apparently chanted the word in her mind, then stared straight ahead.
“Can you see your status? It should tell you more information than the guild card. Can you see the skill levels too? If not, it means the skill hasn’t leveled up yet.”
Misha’s tail pointed straight up as she furiously nodded. I wanted to fluff it so bad!!
“If you focus on Lifestyle Magic, you can see which spells you can use. Magic spells have levels too, see?”
Misha continued nodding.
Next, I took a knife out of the Item Box.
“Now try taking this knife and chant Storage. As before, you don’t have to say it out loud.”
Misha, even more surprised, took the knife. She apparently chanted the spell in her mind, as the knife disappeared. She looked at her empty hand, with sparkles in her eyes.
“You can just picture the knife in your mind, and you can take it out anytime. You should also be able to see a list of the items currently inside your Storage. When you get used it, you can store the items around you, and take them out anytime.”
Misha looked at me, her eyes shining bright.
“I think it’s a very useful magic tool for training. Not a word to anyone, though! You might get in trouble if people know you have something like that. It’s dangerous to use it in front of other people, too.”
Misha nodded fervently.
The magic tool was something I made during training.
I searched everywhere in the library, but couldn’t find anything about magic spells that displayed your status. But in a book about alchemy I read that enchanting the magic tool with a magic circle allowed the user to see their own status, so I tried it out. In addition, the magic tool was also enchanted with the Storage and Preservation skills.

“Let me give you a quick tour around the Room.”
After showing Misha the magic tool, I took her to the living room.
“This is a room to take a break in, mainly. That way is the bedroom I will use, you can sleep on the sofa in that other room.”
Misha looked at me, pleading with watery eyes.
“The bed’s so big, we could sleep together…”
Okay, I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that!
“In the back there is a bathroom too. I can use ‘Clear’, so I don’t technically need to take baths, but it’s very relaxing, so I like doing it.”
Misha didn’t seem very interested in the bathtub. There weren’t any in her village, after all, so she probably just didn’t know how good they can make you feel.
“The room on the opposite side has an eating space. There’s a kitchen in the back, with plenty of magic cooking utensils. There are other rooms too, but please stay out of them for the time being.”
“Alright.”
We went back to the table in the first room.
“Beyond this Room, I have many other things I want to keep hidden. Make sure you keep all the secrets I tell you about, okay? If I find out that my secrets are leaking, even a little, I’m going to disappear.”
“I won’t tell a soul!”
“Good. That’s all for today.”
We then left the Room and returned to our respective bedrooms.
