SIAW Vol. 1 Chapter 7 (PROLOGUE)
Chapter 7 – Training : Year 3
Three years had passed since I started training, with no sign of being sent to my new life yet.
As usual, I spent most of the time training in earnest.
If I really had only three months of time, I surely could have not grown enough. I would have had too many regrets, too many things I still wanted to try, to be able to go to my new life with confidence.

(TLN: I made a table for the skills, since there were so many that listing them like the original text made it confusing imo.)
I learned so many skills that I even lost count.
Why did I learn such a skill? Why did it level up? I gave up on analyzing closely the skills I wasn’t too interested in.
More importantly, I learned that skills had a max level: Throwing became level “MAX” after level 5. I assumed it couldn’t be leveled up further.
My max MP increased, but the pace fell by a lot.
One reason was the Magic Recovery skill being level 5: I recovered 100 MP per minute, 6000 in one hour, 144,000 per day. Since my current max MP was 378,459 , I could use them all up only once every 3 days.
It would be more effective to use potions again, but based on how much MP they healed, only Elixirs would be useful at this point.
After I learned Time Magic, I raised the other Lifestyle magic spells to level 3 and acquired the corresponding elemental skill.
Time → Time Magic Water → Water Magic Fire → Fire Magic
Hole → Earth Magic Blow → Wind Magic Sleep → Dark Magic
Light → Light Magic Clear → Holy Magic
Lifestyle magic seemed to be a stepping stone to learn elemental magic. It always puzzled me why Sleep was included in Lifestyle magic, but this explanation gave it a reason.
Even after all Lifestyle magic spells became level 3, Lifestyle magic itself did not reach level 5. The level up conditions were probably very different between level 4 and level 5.
~
I then spent most of the time trying to raise the level of the elemental magic skills. There is nothing more exciting for a gamer than to use magic attacks, after all.
In one year I managed to raise the level of all elemental magic skills to 2 (the extent covered by the training bonuses), and the magic skills included in the element all reached level 2 too.
At present, after 3 years of training, using my increased magic power to the fullest allowed me to raise all elemental magic skills to level 4.
Elemental magic level 1 allowed the use of basic grade spells only; middle grade spells at level 3 and high grade spells at level 4.
I absolutely wanted to be able to use all high grade spells after I was reborn.
Furthermore, in a book I found in the library I learned that there were also other magic skills, so I wanted to learn those too.
On a less fortunate note, I realized that it wasn’t possible for me to level up Poison Resistance and Paralysis Resistance any more than this. After they became level 3, the poison and paralysis potions in the “Resources” menu stopped having any effect.
I could craft some slightly more powerful potions using Alchemy, but even those stopped being effective after the skills reached level 4.
The Resistance-type skills can be learned and leveled up relatively easily, so it was a kind of a shame.
~
Thanks to learning the Physical Boost skill, my movements have improved greatly.
I was now able to defeat land-based monsters with ease. The strongest monster in the area was the stronger version of an Ogre, which was just right as a sparring partner for me lately.
Once I became able to defeat it without trouble, I started prolonging the battle on purpose, to practice sword and physical skills. I could level up Sword Arts and acquire the Physical Arts skill this way.
I was hit pretty often in the beginning, but thanks to that I learned the Physical Resistance skill, so recently I let myself get hit on purpose to level it up.
Furthermore, when I faced mage-type Goblins or Orcs, or any monster that uses magic, I let them target me with magic attacks and, as expected, I learned the Magic Resistance skill too.
It also worked as practice for healing magic, but being hit so many times destroyed my equipment every day, so I was always naked when I returned to the facility.
~
In regards to alchemy, at first I practiced it in order to craft potions on my own, but lately it’s become more exciting to make magic tools.
I also started trying my hand at forging, to make weapons by myself. The ones available in the “Resources” menu were far too weak: they broke easily while training, forcing me to put it on hold.
As Magic Power Manipulation leveled up, however, I could envelop the weapon I was using with magic power, thus improving its sharpness and durability, so the priority of Forging fell a bit recently.
I finally learned the Cooking skill too, so I cooked my own meals as often as I could. Not because I particularly enjoyed the act of cooking itself, but because I wanted to use the “Meals” menu mainly for non-essential items, like seasonings, alcohol, sweets, desserts and the like.
I made sweets by myself whenever possible, but the ones from my past world are a whole nother level. I found the ingredients available in this world a lot more delicious, though — even monster meat. Many don’t need seasonings.
~
The biggest problem of this facility is that it’s a lonely place.
I didn’t mind being alone in my past life, but I was never completely on my own. I could see other people if I went shopping, and I still lived with my family, though we didn’t talk much.
It was pretty tough to not be able to talk with anyone, or not hear anyone else’s voice.
Once I reached level 10 I would be reborn and meet other people. That gave me motivation to keep up.
In order to have as little trouble as possible in my new life, I had to work hard and improve my stats and skills more and more: my resolve to train was renewed.
