SIAW Vol. 1 Intermission

Intermission: Teras’ Melancholy

Before Tenma arrived at the training facility…

The supervisor that crafted this world, worshiped as the supreme creator in the world itself — the goddess Teras — was sighing.

“Lady Teras, your tea.”

“Thank you.”

Teras was served tea by one of her brethren, one of the gods of this world.

“The otherworld resurrection office still hasn’t given permission…”

The goddess had been waiting for more than 300 years.

In the distant past, Teras herself worked under the supervisor of a different world. In that world, visible stats and magic did not exist in reality, but only in the fiction of videogames and novels.

Teras eventually became the supervisor of a new world: she thus used her beloved novels as a basis to introduce the existence of stats, skills and magic.

She spent what felt like an eternity to craft her ideal world.

Lastly, she turned the tales of the demon king and hero to reality too.

The result, however, was far more tragic than she expected, and even brought her world on the brink of destruction.

She granted the demon king a divine gift, a method to gain power: what happened, however, was that the lord of all monsters accumulated too much of it.

Various rules and regulations stopped the supervisor from interfering with the world they created.

Because of that, she summoned a hero with a different divine gift: the hero, however, did not grow as much as she expected, and was nearly defeated by the demon king.

If the demon king had succeeded, the world would have surely been annihilated by the absolute power they wielded.

Other supervisors had created worlds similar to Teras’ before, which had all been eventually destroyed.

If a world was proceeding on the path to final annihilation, but if people were summoned here from other worlds, even amidst the chaos the world would progress, thanks to the culture and technology they brought with them. The threat of the demon king was always present, but at the very least they would trigger some sort of evolution in the stalling world.

Such a line of thinking gained more and more traction among supervisors, and culminated in the creation of the otherworld resurrection office.

Taking living beings away from their worlds without consent would lead to all sorts of trouble, so to summon beings from other worlds, a formal request to the office was needed.

Teras thus checked the otherworld resurrection system, studied the process in detail and created a training facility.

She was positive that her facility was built much better than any other.

How much time had passed since she had sent her resurrection request, however?

Maybe it was because she had spent too much time building the facility, or that she sent her request later than other supervisors. In any case, her turn hadn’t come yet.

According to what the supervisors of other worlds said, most summoned beings died shortly after being transported to the new world. Teras told herself that spending time on the training facility would definitely prove to have been a good idea.

All the more reason why she couldn’t wait for her “otherworlder” to arrive.

“They told me my turn would come soon! It’s a matter of time!!”

So Teras told herself, over and over.

At last, the long-awaited day had come. A few minutes later, the otherworlder was going to be resurrected in Teras’ world.

“The day has finally come, Lady Teras.”

“You can say that again. I hope they have grown enough in the training facility…if they die right away, like it happened in other worlds, then all this effort was for nothing.”

Teras, despite her cautious tone, had high expectations. She wanted to believe that her training facility was perfect.

“Lady Teras, the resurrection was successful.”

Immediately, Teras checked the location where the otherworlder had been resurrected to.

“Frankly, they look more normal than I expected.”

The young man’s appearance was indeed pretty normal.

“Let me see his status!!”

Teras immediately checked the otherworlder’s stats.

“!!!!!!!!!!!”

The goddess was shocked beyond words.

“How was it? Is it going to be okay?”

“….there’s nothing ‘okay’ here!!”

Teras couldn’t help but shout.

“D-Did something go wrong?”

“I can’t believe my eyes…why is this happening!?”

The subordinate was surprised by Teras’ reaction.

“What kind of monster did they send me!?!?!?!”

Teras was in disbelief. No matter how much someone trained in her facility, they couldn’t achieve such stats in just three months.

“A m-monster!? What do you mean, Milady?”

The subordinate was surprised again by the goddess’ choice of words.

“Soon enough, this otherworlder might even become the next demon king. That’s how strong he is!!”

“!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

The otherworlder could become the next demon king…in other words, he had the power to destroy the whole world.

The subordinate was at a loss for words.

“Let me call the otherworlder resurrection office, right now!!!”

Teras then turned towards a monitor.

◆ ◆ ◆ ◆

Teras immediately contacted the otherworlder resurrection office, but the reply she received was just “we shall research the matter and contact you shortly”, with no further contact.

“Well, at least that otherworlder hasn’t been using his abilities much. If he did, he might have wiped a few towns from the planet already…”

As the goddess said, Tenma had been hiding his true powers.

“Besides, who would expect the training facility to have a bug like that…”

Teras felt regretful: never she had thought that her creation could have been so flawed.

She never expected someone could train Lifestyle Magic up to level 5 in just three months. No…she had overlooked that possibility…

What kind of incredible things could that young man have brought in the world? In any case, the crisis her planet was facing was even worse now.

Teras, holding her head in her hands, was desperately thinking for a way out.

Is there a way to make him come to the church?

If he did, I could summon his spiritual body here. I want to hear what he thinks, and if I don’t make sure he doesn’t do anything dangerous, we really are doomed.

I have to act friendly, welcome him with all my heart! If anything happens and he turn hostile, the world is really going to end.

Teras was acutely aware of the potential threat that Tenma posed.

She was also incapable of doing anything to him directly: she could not erase his existence or take away his powers.

Even if she requested for the summoning of another otherworlder, she strongly doubted that they could defeat Tenma.

After all, he was just level 10, yet already had 40% or more of the ability of the demon king at their prime…

The otherworlder resurrection office couldn’t reply fast enough. Had there been other mistakes, other than the training facility?

Teras’ anxiety continued to grow…

◆ ◆ ◆ ◆

Why won’t you come to the church~~!

You finally went to a city that has one! And you didn’t get close!!

No word from the office either!!

Why won’t you send a measly report!?

Even if the world isn’t destroyed, a catastrophe might happen!! What are you going to do then!?!

I’ve been a bundle of nerves recently, so even my subordinates avoid me…and unless they send me the report, or he goes to a church, I’m never going to feel any better…

Teras thus spent days of anxiety and paranoia. There was also no assurance that the things she was waiting for would actually cure her heartache…
