SIAW Vol. 2 Chapter 13 Part 1
Chapter 13 – Sil’s Familiar Registration
When I was finally freed from the lecture, I scampered away to my room. The misunderstanding was not completely dispelled, as Luka and Marissa told me to leave Misha with them, but I had no idea what she could say next when I wasn’t there, so I pretty much snatched her away and brought her with me…
“I’m sorry…but I didn’t say anything about the skills and training methods.”
Misha didn’t seem to understand the problem she had caused.
It’s almost like making her keep the secret made it all worse instead…
She probably thought it better not to talk about the training itself in detail, but because of that her explanation was ambiguous and caused unneeded misunderstandings.
In the end, in order to dispel the misunderstandings I was forced to reveal part of my training methods.
They probably thought it was too harsh, but at least my abilities and skills were not exposed, so it was still acceptable.
Misha had no ill will, but I still almost ended up giving the impression of being a sadist and a pervert. Wait, scratch the almost…
I spoke to Misha.
“I praise you for not talking about the secret, but please think better about how you speak. You made it sound like I gave you some weird drug and did lewd things to you.”
“Eeh!? Really!?”
Misha was completely shocked.
You didn’t have a clue, did you!? Aah…I’m exhausted…
I wobbled back to ALA, with Misha in tow, took up Sil and dropped down on his bed.
This fluffiness…is my last remaining salvation…
I petted Sil all over, relishing in the fluff.
Sil, instinctively perceiving danger, tried to run away, but I blocked him and continued.
“T-Tenma…”
Misha was about to say something, but I ignored her and fluffed Sil until the meter was full.
Once I was done, I gave fried guinea fowl and a block of Forest Boar bacon to the distraught Sil. I was a bit too rough on him, so I had to apologize.
Thanks to that, however, I was now back to normal.
I glanced at Sil, happily enjoying his meal, then turned to Misha.
“What do you want to do tonight, Misha? You can sleep here or at the inn, your choice.”
Misha seemed a bit confused by my mood swings, as she hesitantly asked.
“What about you, Tenma…?”
“I have to write the documents I promised to the guildmaster, so I’ll do that in the Room.”
Misha thought for a moment, then replied.
“I’ll sleep with Sil. But I want to take a bath tomorrow morning!”
Looks like she’s become a fan too.
“Sure, no problem. I’m going to wake you up early though, okay?”
“Okay!”
The commotion appeared to be finally over and done with.

I went to the living room, sat on the sofa and opened the notebook of the Perfect Memory skill.
Perfect Memory was a skill I had learned during training, after mastering the Memory skill. It made it possible to perfectly memorize any sound or picture. The available capacity depended on the skill level, though.
Just like digital data in my past life, pictures and movies required a lot of capacity, so it wasn’t possible to memorize many at the same time.
At first I started memorizing the books in the training island’s library, as pictures, but after leveling up the skill it became possible to record the books’ content as text, so the capacity needed decreased.
After leveling it up more, it became possible to categorize the memorized contents, just like a bookshelf. It also became possible to record notes in unused spaces.
I could open such notebooks, write in contents about experiments I made, copy and paste them, correct them, erase them — in short, make “Memory Books”.
I went over all the records I had made, organizing them in over twenty Memory Books and putting them back in the Memory skill’s available bookshelves.
After that, I selected the material I was going to send to the guildmaster.
Using the Transcription skill, I could transfer the contents onto paper.
I thought I couldn’t bring things from the training island into this world, but I assumed that memorized things wouldn’t be erased, so I learned the Transcription skill.
And it turned out to be super useful!
~
After completing the documents, I checked the time: it took longer than expected, but I could still sleep a few hours, so I turned in for the night.
Just before I fell into slumber, I realized I hadn’t gone to the church…but it was too late: sleep quickly took over my body.
◇ ◇ ◇ ◇
The alarm woke me up at five in the morning, and I headed straight for the ALA.
I opened the door, wondering if I would be forced to make Sil go wake up Misha again…but to my surprise, she was already up and waiting!
She’s showing signs of growth!
I told her to go take a bath, and made Sil his breakfast in the meanwhile.
After she came out and we made our preparations, we went downstairs to the inn tavern.
Most other guests too were having an early breakfast: we had a leisurely meal that day, then headed to the Adventurers’ Guild.
~
Once we arrived, we found that the receptions were hustling and bustling.
I supposed that was the busiest time of day: visiting the guild after breakfast, as we did, was probably routine for many adventurers.
I was looking at the busy counters, wondering where I should deliver the documents, when I spotted the guildmaster, waving at us from behind the reception desk.
We walked up to him.
“Morning, Tenma. Are the documents ready?”
I took the stack of paper from my Storage and handed it to him.
“Good morning. I wasn’t sure what order was best to put them in, so I brought them as is. Every document has its cover, with the title and other information.”
The guildmaster, after one moment of surprise because of the size of the stack, started leafing through the pages.
After a quick look, he groaned, impressed.
“Y-You made all of this…in one night? There’s a lot more than what we talked about, and…the writing is so neat and tidy…”
The guildmaster’s tone became softer as he spoke, making it difficult to tell what he was saying at the end.
I started explaining about the documents.
“I put together the material closely connected to the main topic, and other things I thought could be useful.”
“I-Is that so.”
The guildmaster gazed at the documents, dumbfounded.
“Okay then, I’m going hunting. I’ll come back at noon to report and register my familiar.”
The guildmaster was too absorbed by the documents to even hear my words, so I left the guild and headed outside the town.
◇ ◇ ◇ ◇
Once outside, we went to a deserted place and opened the ALA.
Misha immediately started training, but Sil was lying down lazily, so I let him do as he pleased.
Every time I moved, however, he jumped on his paws and followed.
You want to be together everywhere I go, don’t you! You adorable ball of fur!
I went with Sil to the butchery under the cliff, to cut Forest Wolf and Forest Boar meat and make jerky and bacon, just like the day before.
This time I planned to make some uncured ham too.
I took a Forest Boar leg and immersed it in brine.
Sil was looking at the Forest Wolf and Forest Boar offal, salivating, so I gave him some and he started happily gnawing on them.
Aren’t Forest Wolves your brethren, though…? While pondering this, I gave Sil some Forest Wolf jerky and he started eating it with enthusiasm.
I guess his old relationships have no effect on appetite…such is the cruel world of monsters…
After this discovery, I went to the smoking shack, hung the seasoned meat and activated the smoking magic tool.
I still had plenty of time, so I thought of teaching Sil how to use the Storage function of his collar.
I took out a pebble, then put it back into Storage.
“Sil, can you do this?”
“(I dunno…I’ll try!!)”
Sil stared at the pebble for a while, with no sign of success,
“Try saying “Storage” in your head.”
“(Storage!)”
Sil tried over and over, but the pebble did not move an inch.
There was no other way out: I touched his collar and stored some jerky and bacon inside.
Sil wagged his tail happily, then took out the jerky. So he could take things out of Storage.
“Can you put it back inside?”
“(Why~~? Can’t I eat it?)”
“If you can put it inside, you can eat it.”
Sil stared at the jerky, which disappeared the next instant.
“(I can eat it, right??)”
You rascal, so you could do it from the start!
“Sure, eat up!”
Even if it was on purpose, he’s still pretty amazing!
I gave Sil a congratulatory rub.

Thanks for the treat.
