TWEM Vol. 7 Chapter 10 Part 1
Chapter 10 – VS. Lauren
Currently, Tendo and I were defeating monsters one after another.
We were surrounded by monsters and there was no way to escape.
This would be good practice for Tendo.
Thinking so, I cut down the enemies attacking me one after another with my beloved black sword, Benizakura.
I glanced at Tendo and saw that he still had plenty of room.
I felt bad for Tendo, but I felt like I should lure a few more monsters in his direction.
I immediately used magic to subtly guide the monsters towards Tendo.
“Hey, they’re coming this way all of a sudden! Is this your doing, Haruto?”
“What are you talking about? You’ll get hurt if you don’t focus.”
“I’m already doing it!”
Even while exchanging words like this, Tendo continued to defeat the monsters that were attacking him.
Just as you’d expect from a hero.
Amidst all this, a disaster-class tiger-type monster of the ultimate attack – Black Tiger – appeared before Tendo.
“Haruto, this is…”
“Huh? Ah, it’s a disaster-class. It’s been a while since I’ve seen one.”
“Is this the time to be so carefree!? This is going to be a tough opponent in this situation.”
“Do your best. You can beat him. Actually, I think you can win…”
Apart from the Black Tiger, there were several other disaster-class monsters on the battlefield.
But none of them were opponents that Tendo couldn’t beat.
Tendo had gotten stronger, so I felt he would be fine in this situation.
“Everything is a challenge. Don’t worry. I can heal an arm or two in no time.”
“What!? Ah, come on! I get it! I’ll do it!”
Perhaps out of desperation, Tendo readied his holy sword and confronted it.
It would have been a shame if the other monsters rushed in in this situation, so I decided to handle them.
Then, several disaster-class monsters appeared in front of me.
There was a giant one-eyed Cyclops, a demon-like monster with a horn growing from its forehead that looked like a subspecies of the Ogre King, and a large black wolf called a Hellhound.
Then other disaster-class monsters were coming towards us one after the other.
“So many disaster-class monsters,” I muttered, and at the same time, I heard a voice.
“Hahaha! How about that! As expected, neither you nor your friends over there will be able to defeat them.”
Riding a bird-like monster, looking down at me and Tendo, was Lauren, the person controlling these monsters.
Lauren landed on the ground and smiled broadly.
With Lauren’s appearance, the monsters surrounded us and stopped moving.
“Haruto, what will you do?”
“You just deal with that tiger. It’ll be good training.”
“Training… then Haruto?”
“Don’t you understand? I’ll deal with these guys.”
“Well, Haruto, you can do that.”
Tendo agreed rather easily, so I looked at Lauren.
“Lauren, you just watch over. I’ll take care of the monsters quickly and deal with you.”
“What are you being cocky about? You’ll become food for the monsters there—do it. Kill and eat them!”
On Lauren’s orders, the monsters surrounding us attacked.
Well, first we had to do something about this situation.
But it was easy to do. I just need to separate Tendo, Black Tiger, and myself and the other monsters.
“I’ll use magic to separate the enemies. Got it?”
“You want to completely isolate me and that Black Tiger so that no one else can get in the way?”
Tendo asked and I nodded.
“Let’s go —Fire Wall!”
The monsters surrounding us were separated by my magic.
Tendo had one Black Tiger. I had about a dozen monsters left.
I called out to Tendo, who was on the other side of the wall of flames.
“Don’t lose.”
“I can’t lose. After all, Haruto has high expectations of me!”
“Haha, well then.”
“Yeah, that’s right.”
“Let’s finish this up quickly!”
Thus began my battle against disaster-class monsters.
~
Seeing the monsters emitting Intimidation force in front of me, I reached for my weapon, the black sword Benizakura.
The monster didn’t move from their glaring position, and seemed to be waiting for an opportunity to see what would happen.
“If you don’t move, I’ll go first.”
I drew my sword and cut off the head of one of the large monsters.
“First one!”
I shook off the blood from my sword and put it back into its sheath.
The monsters saw that one of them had been defeated in an instant, and took that as a signal to attack all at once.
My first target was the Hellhound, which seemed to be the fastest among the disaster-class monsters.
The Hellhound approached me at full speed, swinging its front legs as if to tear my body apart.
It was quite fast, but its attack was too slow for me.
Watching the approaching attack, I took a step forward and drew my sword from its sheath.
Fresh blood flew, and the Hellhound’s front legs flew into the air.
I aimed at the Hellhound, who seemed confused by what had happened in an instant, and unleashed a single slash.
The head flew through the air, fell to the ground and spread a red stain.
“Second!”
One after another, the various disaster-class monsters attacked me in an attempt to kill me, but I defeated them all.
Amidst all of this, a shadow fell over my head.
I looked up and saw the Cyclops’ club.
The huge mass was closing in, trying to crush me.
But a smile formed on my lips.
“That won’t defeat me.”
The club swung down, creating a large crater in the ground.
The Cyclops looked around, still holding the club, but I was nowhere to be seen.
That’s because I was crawling along the top of the club and approaching the Cyclops.
The Cyclops noticed this and tried to shake me off.
“You’re too late.”
I jumped and wrapped my sword in flames, then threw it over my head.
The moment I landed, flames erupted from the Cyclops’ feet, and the Cyclops created a pillar of fire and disappeared into ashes.
“Phew… what about the rest?”
I muttered as I looked at the remaining monsters.
The disaster-class monsters took a step back, perhaps frightened by seeing their comrades being defeated one after another.
“What’s wrong? Are you scared?”
Perhaps my words got through to them, as the monsters stopped moving, and in the next moment they unleashed a threatening roar at me.
“Hmph, you’re roaring pretty well.”
Then the monsters attacked again.
Each blow was powerful, and the terrain was destroyed every time I dodged.
Just to be safe, I enveloped Tendo with a space-cutting barrier called Aegis to stop any stray bullets from hitting him.
In other words, this was a ring battlefield with no escape.
Normally, being trapped in a barrier with no way to escape and several disaster-class monsters was the worst case scenario, but… I can’t help but smile.
I dodge the enemy’s attacks and launch the next one, slaughtering them.
Soon, only the ogre remained.
This ogre seemed to be highly intelligent, as it had been attacking whenever it found an opportunity to catch me fighting other monsters.
I was curious, so I decided to appraise it.

No, wait. Isn’t he strong? I’m also curious about the “Kijin” race… do you know, Ellis?
《Kijin are the highest-ranking individuals that are rarely born among Ogres. They are very strong and intelligent.》
Hmm. It’s certainly a stat that is appropriate for the highest-ranking species.
However, I didn’t feel any power from the greatsword he was holding, so it was probably just an ordinary sword.
The Ogre held his greatsword at a ready, and was full of enthusiasm.
I also held my sword and faced the Ogre.
