TWEM Vol. 7 Chapter 17 Part 1

Chapter 17 – Towards the Final Battle

It had been two weeks since the announcement was made.

At first, many people were unable to hide their anxiety over the unbelievable situation and made a fuss. However, when they learned of the heroes’ presence, the commotion quickly subsided. Just how incredible was the name value of a hero?

And in every country, preparations were progressing steadily.

As for me, I was holed up in my mansion, working hard on making magic tools.

“Haruto-san, do you want to take a break?”

Finne called out as she opened the door to my room.

When I turned around, I saw Iris, Suzuno, and all of my friends, along with Finne.

“What’s going on everyone?”

“We’re all worried because Haruto stayed up all night doing something.”

“Yeah, Haruto. Let’s do what Iris said and get some rest. Okay?”

Iris and Suzuno said with worried expressions.

After becoming a High Human, it would be okay for me to go without sleep for about a month, but I felt bad for making everyone worry, so I stopped working for the time being.

“That’s right, Haruto-san, why don’t you take a bath? It’ll help relieve your fatigue.”

“A bath. That’s right. Thank you, Finne. I’ll go take a bath.”

Sebas stepped forward while we were talking.

“Lord Haruto, everything is ready.”

“As expected, you’re very efficient.”

Perhaps Finne or Iris had noticed that I hadn’t taken a bath and had asked Sebas to get it ready.

As I was instructed, I went to the bathroom.

“Hah…”

I let out a relaxed voice as I soaked in the tub.

Baths really felt good.

I guess I was getting tired after all.

But there’s still work to be done…

The magic tool I’m working on now was disposable, so I wanted to make a lot of them.

After a long bath, I went to the living room where Finne and the others were waiting.

“It looks like you were able to relax.”

When Finne returned, she gave me a satisfied, yet happy smile.

“Thanks to you. Can I sit next to you?”

“Please.”

Finne moved a little to the side to make room, so I sat down.

“Haruto-san, you’ve been holed up all this time, but what kind of magic tool have you been making?”

Ilmina asked.

“I’m curious as well.”

“Yeah, tell me.”

Char and Kuzel nodded, and all eyes were on me..

I took a magic stone the size of a marble out of the alternate dimension storage.

“It has a magic circle engraved on it.”

Ephyr muttered as she looked at the magic circle engraved on the magic stone.

“Yes. The magic circle Ephyr noticed has fire, wind, and earth magic formulas engraved on it. What’s more, it can store a large amount of magic power.”

When I handed it over, Ephyr stared intently at the magic stone she received.

And it wasn’t just Ephyr. The others also looked at her hand with great interest.

“Haruto, if there’s a magic circle engraved on it, that means it can’t just store magic power, right?”

Iris’ question made me smile.

“Exactly. It’s a disposable magic tool… or should I say a disposable weapon instead.”

“A disposable weapon?”

“When the magic power exceeds the capacity limit, it activates a self-destruct magic formula. You can check how much magic power has accumulated by making the ball glow according to the amount of magic power.”

“Haruto, please explain it in simple terms.”

I nodded at Char’s words.

“When it’s about to self-destruct, the magic formula of fire, wind, or earth that I mentioned earlier is activated, causing damage to the surrounding area.”

While Finne and the others seemed like they wanted to ask what such a frightening thing was, Suzuno, Tendo, Shinonome, and the other heroes were surprised as they seemed to have a similar item in mind.

“Maybe it’s something like a grenade?”

“Yes, Suzuno is right. The range of the explosion depends on the size of the magic stone, but if it’s a big one, I think it will blow up a corner of the royal capital.”

Hearing my words, Ephyr quietly placed the magic stone on the table and stepped away.

“I thought about injecting my magic for just a moment… I’m glad.”

“It’s fine if it’s just before the limit. No problem.”

“““It’s totally not fine!”””

Everyone pointed this out.

It’s safe if you handle it with care though…

I felt depressed, but then I remembered that there was something else I wanted to show everyone.

“By the way, I also made a weapon for Ilmina and Suzuno. Iris, Ephyr, Kuzel, Char, and Finne have their own weapons, so they’ll have some accessories as well. I will do it for Tendo and the others next time.”

Shinonome and Asakura looked disappointed, but you heroes already received some nice things from the country.

First, I took out a white rapier from the alternate dimension storage.

“This is for Suzuno. Its name is White Beauty Alterna.”

“Beautiful…”

Suzuno murmured as she looked at the rapier she received.

Name:

White Beauty Alterna

Rarity:

Phantasm

Notes:

Fixed to owner.

Has the ability to automatically repair and halve magic power consumption.

Strengthens the effects of holy magic by three times.

For Suzuno, the halving of magic power consumption was probably the most appreciated effect.

“Haruto, this is amazing…”

“Take good care of it, okay?”

“Of course!”

Suzuno happily hugged the sword with both hands and smiled at me.

“Next is Ilmina.”

I said as I took out a white staff.

The design is a little intricate because I worked hard to make it suitable for Ilmina’s title of “Saintess”.

The staff even had a divine quality to it.

Ilmina let out a voice and said, “It’s pretty.”

“The name of this staff is ‘Holy Heaven Eumenides’.”

Name:

Holy Heaven Eumenides

Rarity:

Phantasm

Notes:

Fixed to the owner.

Has the effects of automatic repair, automatic healing, and halving magic power consumption.

Effect range (extreme) and holy magic effects are four times stronger.

When the owner is attacked, a barrier is automatically deployed.

Even I found this absurd.

It was partly due to the materials used, but it was still too powerful.

Looking at the ability, it wouldn’t be surprising if the rarity was that of a Divine grade.

When I explained the ability, everyone seemed unable to hide their surprise.

“I-I can’t accept this!”

“No, I made it for you, Ilmina. I want you to protect us with this.”

I said, holding out the wand. Ilmina took it, her cheeks flushing a little.

Seeing Ilmina’s cheeks relax as she received it made me feel fond of her.

“Thank you. I’ll do my best to protect all of you!”

“I’m counting on you. Now all that’s left is this.”

Saying this, I took out bracelets and rings for everyone.

“First off, the bracelets. They mainly strengthen your stats and your magic and skill power in general. They’re three times more effective.”

Someone muttered, “Three times…” but I ignored them and continued speaking.

“The ring has some extra magic power stored in it. It’s basically like a magic potion. Just by being aware of the ring, magic power flows into your body. The ring’s magic capacity is about two or three times the amount of magic power that everyone has. The red stone will stop glowing when the magic power runs out.”

They were so shocked that their mouths were agape.

No one said a word.

Well, it’s no wonder that people would be shocked when they were given such a magical tool.

They were all powerful magic tools that were worthy of being national treasures.

However, everyone seemed to be used to the fact that the things I made were out of the ordinary, so they accepted it easily.

After that, we went back to our work and preparations.

And so the day of the final battle drew nearer.
