Chapter 5 – Demon King Fran vs. [Demonic Heaven] Alogis

While Haruto was fighting Lucifer, another battle was simultaneously taking place on the battlefield where the Evil God’s army and the Demon King’s army collided.

The first Demon King and apostle of the Evil God, [Demonic Heaven] Alogis, was fighting against the current Demon King, Fran Vampir.

However, the battle continued in Alogis’ advantage.

“You are too weak to call yourself a Demon King.”

“Weak, huh… I suppose that’s true compared to you, the first demon who lived in the age of myths. But even so, I am the strongest demon of today. I cannot lose so easily.”

“You should have just joined our side. I will not hear from you again. May you become an offering to our Lord.”

Alogis aimed his palm at Fran and fired countless fireballs. However, Fran didn’t move a muscle when she saw the approaching fireball.

The fireball hit Fran directly, and an explosion of flames lit up the surroundings.

However, Alogis, who had used the technique, had been staring at Fran the whole time.

When the dust cleared, Fran stood there unharmed.

“Oh, you dodged it… No, did you avoid it by turning yourself into a mist?”

“That was easy enough. Then it’s my turn.”

Fran said, stretching out her palm as she approached Alogis.

“You think your magic will work on me?”

Alogis looked at the approaching Fran and activated a spell.

A magic circle appeared at Fran’s feet, and thorns of earth thrust out from it to skewer him.

The moment the thorns hit Fran directly – Fran turned into mist.

The mist seemed to envelop Alogis before passing by.

Immediately afterwards, a black bolt of lightning struck Alogis’s back.

“Guh!”

As Alogis cried out, Fran continued her attacks.

She unleashed fire magic in rapid succession, enveloping Alogis and sending up a pillar of flame.

After a short time, the fire subsided, revealing Alogis with an unpleasant expression on his face.

Despite the attacks, Alogis had no visible injuries on his body.

“Hmm. Did you do something?”

As Alogis muttered, Fran appeared a short distance away and cursed, “You monster.”

“Well, I’ll play with you for a bit.”

Laughing at Fran, Alogis pulled out his own magic sword – the Underworld Emperor – from the void.

Fran’s expression stiffened as she felt the menace emanating from the magic sword.

In an instant, Alogis disappeared.

To Alogis, it was just a movement. However, from Fran’s perspective, it looked like he had teleported.

Seeing Alogis appear before her, Fran instinctively jumped backward to evade.

“–Guh!?”

Fran’s right arm and blood flew as she landed and clutched her right shoulder.

“Hmm. Was it luck? Or was it a prediction or a move based on combat experience?”

Alogis muttered in admiration, but both were true.

If she had dodged a little slower, Fran’s body would have been slashed to pieces.

Fran’s combat experience was the reason she called herself the strongest demon.

“Is she holding her right shoulder because she’s trying to endure the pain? No, it’s not. Maybe it’s the power of a vampire.”

Despite being in the middle of a battle, Alogis calmly observed Fran.

“That’s right. Even though I may look like this, I’m a True Ancestor vampire. Any damage I cause will regenerate immediately. Just like this.”

The arm that fell to the ground melted into liquid, then floated towards Fran and was absorbed.

The blood then took the shape of an arm and regenerated it.

This was a regenerative ability that utilized one of the skills only vampires could use, “Blood Flow Manipulation.”

Vampires could only control their blood to a certain extent, but progenitors had the ability to recover.

Seeing this, Alogis nodded with amusement.

“Hmm, that’s a useful ability. It’s a shame that we’re enemies. What do you think, it’s not too late now?”

“No, thank you.  Unlike you, I wouldn’t betray my brethren.”

“That’s disappointing. I’m not betraying my brethren.”

“Then why did you kill the demons?”

Alogis answered Fran’s question, prefaced by saying, “It’s simple.”

“That’s because Lord Chronos wishes it.”

Alogis’ eyes shine suspiciously.

Fran muttered a curse, “Lunatic…”

“We, the Apostles, can only destroy the enemies of our Lord, no matter what that is.”

“You’re crazy.”

“You can say whatever you want. But I cannot forgive that High Human for insulting Lord Chronos. I will definitely kill him with my own hands.”

Hearing this, Fran snorted, “Fufu.”

“…What’s funny?”

“It’s not funny at all. Even if you’re the First Demon King, there’s no way you can win against such an unreasonable opponent.”

“What?”

“Well, even if Haru doesn’t defeat you, I will.”

“…I see. Then come. I’ll kill you with my own hands, and slaughter all the demons here.”

The moment he spoke, Alogis’ magic powers rose explosively.

A raging blast of magic powers attacked Fran.

Fran was feeling uneasy inside, but she had made a promise with Haruto.

Like Alogis, Fran’s magic power soared in an instant.

The two glared at each other, and the space creaked as if screaming.

Amid the tense situation, Fran made the first move.

She turned her palms towards Alogis. Several magic circles appeared around him, and various spells were unleashed.

The power of each spell was so great that it would be difficult for ordinary people to block them.

However, just before they hit, Fran saw the corners of Alogis’ mouth lift up.

All the magic spells that had been deployed had been activated, and a cloud of sand covered the surroundings.

At that moment, Fran came up behind Alogis and slashed at him with the magic sword she had taken out.

A high-pitched clang rang out, and the impact of the collision cleared the dust.

Alogis, with an expression that said he had expected it, readied his sword and blocked Fran’s sword.

Alogis put all his strength into sweeping the sword away, and Fran, who could not possibly have been beaten in strength, was blown horizontally.

“Guh!”

“Can you dodge this?”

The slash generated by Alogis’s swing of the magic sword sliced ​​through Fran’s torso, sending her flying.

After witnessing this, Alogis took a half step back.

A bright red thorn then protruded from under his feet, just above Alogis’s face.

If he hadn’t stepped back, the blow was so powerful that it would have caused some damage.

“…You think that kind of trick would work on me?”

“No. I don’t think so.”

Alogis turned towards an empty spot, and the mist gathered in one place, where Fran appeared.

Fran still had a relaxed expression.

However, that relaxed expression was fake.

Inside, she was thinking about how to get out of this situation.

However, the difference in their strength was so great that she was unable to visualize a victory.

“–Black Lightning!”

Fran unleashed black lightning toward Alogis.

However, Alogis swung his magic sword to counter the lightning, and disappeared from Fran’s sight.

Immediately after, Alogis’ sword approached Fran.

“—!”

Fran avoided it by flying backward while misting her body, but her arm, which was slow to mist, was cut off and blood flew.

“Shit!”

Alogis cast magic at Fran in pursuit, but she atomized and was unharmed.

After canceling the atomization, Fran clutched the shoulder where his arm had been sliced ​​off.

Blood dripped down, staining the ground red.

“To think that something like this would make you the Demon King.”

Alogis said, snorting, and Fran laughed in amusement.

Alogis’s expression showed signs of displeasure upon seeing this.

“…What’s so funny?”

“Fufu, Demon King Alogis. Have you forgotten what you just saw – that I’m a race that can control blood?”

Perhaps realizing what Fran said, Alogis looked startled.

At that moment, Fran’s severed arm turned into blood and rose to the surface, forming a sphere in the air. Then, just like before, it headed towards Fran and regenerated to its original state.
