TWEM Vol. 7 Chapter 1 Part 1

Chapter 1 – Return to Belifaire

I, Haruto Yuki, am a high school student who was suddenly summoned to another world as a hero one day.

However, I did not have the title of “hero” and was kicked out for being incompetent, and was almost killed by the people of the Kingdom of Glicente, the summoner.

There, I met a man who claimed to be a God, acquired a number of cheat skills, and thus I began to work as an adventurer in the Kingdom of Perdis.

One day, I headed to the capital with my friends to participate in a tournament to be held in Galzio’s empire.

However, in the midst of the excitement of the tournament, a major incident occurred: an attack by Dragonoid Damnatio, one of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Demon King’s Army.

After a fierce battle, I defeated Damnatio, but somehow I ended up fighting Charlotte, the second princess of the Galzio Empire, and Charlotte became one of my fiancées.

While there was such a commotion, we thought it would be better to check what was happening in the demon territory, so we decided to return to our base in Perdis.

On the way, we decided to stop by the Holy State of Belifaire, where Ilmina, one of my fiancées and a Saintess, was waiting for us.

Two weeks after leaving the empire in a horse-drawn carriage, we arrived in the Holy State of Belifaire.

“We finally made it.”

“Yes, we did.”

Finne, one of my fiancées, who was sitting next to me on the coach, replied happily to my words.

“I haven’t been here for a long time. I feel nostalgic.”

Beside her, was Charlotte —she was gazing nostalgically at the holy city.

I heard that the Galzio Empire and the Holy State of Belifaire had a close relationship because they were adjacent to each other, so I guess she had been here several times.

I suddenly wondered what the other members were doing and looked back.

In the back of the carriage were Suzuno, one of the summoned heroes like me, Iris, the princess of the Kingdom of Perdis, and Ephyr, the princess of the Elves, were all sleeping soundly in their beds. By the way, all three of them were also my fiancées.

“Shall I wake them up?”

Noticing that I had turned around, Asha, Iris’ maid, asked me.

But I shook my head.

“Leave the three of them, and go get Kuzel and Zero.”

Kuzel, who was the vice captain of the Knights of the Kingdom of Glicente, and Zero, who was the boss dragon of the Nargadia Labyrinth but transformed into a human and followed me around.

These two were currently in a subspace, a space created by me where they could freely come and go through the door attached to the carriage.

“Understood.”

After saying that, Asha opened the door and headed to subspace to call Kuzel and Zero.

After a while, Asha returned with the two of them.

“I slept well.”

Kuzel was apparently asleep. Beside her, Zero bowed his head.

“Master, I’m back.”

“Zero, have you had a good night’s sleep?”

“Yes, thanks to you.”

“I’m glad to hear that.”

Then Kuzel came up to me with a look of frustration on her face.

“You don’t have anything to say to me?”

“No, because you were sleeping, weren’t you?”

“Mm.”

“Did you sleep well…?”

“Yes, soundly.”

“Well, that’s good to hear.”

I wondered if this was okay, but Kuzel seemed satisfied, so I’ll just leave it as was.

“Iris, Suzuno, and Ephyr, please wake up. We’ve arrived at the holy city.”

The three of them let out sleepy voices, “Mmm…”

Their eyelids also looked heavy, and this was a pattern that made one fall back to sleep. Being swayed by a horse-drawn carriage was very comfortable.

“I know you’re sleepy, but wake up.”

“Whew…I know, I got it.”

“Ugh, I’m sleepy…”

“Same here…”

We passed through the checkpoint together with the sleepy people and headed to the same inn as the last time.

As seen from the window of the carriage, some parts of the city were destroyed during the battle with the devil Schwarz, and everyone in the city continued to work on rebuilding it.

There were people from the church mixed in as well.

Even though so much had been destroyed, only a few collapsed buildings remained, and the work was in full swing.

Unlike on earth, the work here was done quickly, probably because of magic.

They didn’t seem to use the same magic that I used to fix the cathedral, but still, magic made a difference.

We arrived at the inn, booked a room for two nights, and went out to the town.

“I’m heading to the cathedral. Is it okay?”

Everyone seemed to have no problem and nodded in response to my question.

In this way, we decided to head to the cathedral, but―

“It’s a nuisance when there are so many people, so I’m just looking around the city”

“I will go too.”

Kuzel opened her mouth to agree with Suzuno and Ephyr.

“I’ll go with Suzuno and Ephyr and take a look around the city.”

“I see. I’m not sure if it’s just the three of you…Zero, can you accompany them?”

“Okay. Leave it to me.”

“Thank you.”

I left Suzuno, Kuzel, and Ephyr with Zero, and took Finne, Iris, Asha, and Char to the cathedral.

“…It’s fixed up nicely, isn’t it? I’m not sure if I’ve overdone it after all.”

“I think so. It’s more divine than when we first came here.”

When Finne was nodding at my words, Char tilted her head.

“Haruto. I heard that a devil appeared in the Holy City before.”

I see, I didn’t tell Char about what happened in the Holy City, did I?

“Yes. The devil worshippers used sacrifices to summon the devil. The devil covered the entire city with a barrier and tried to steal the souls of the people inside. I… no, we all stopped it.”

“Is that so? Was that devil strong?”

“Yeah. I almost died.”

“Really?”

Char looked surprised at my words.

My level was higher, but the devil was more familiar with magic and had the ability to weaken us.

It hasn’t even been a year since I came to this world, and the devil had lived for hundreds of years.

To be honest, I had to admit that he was better at magic than me.

Well, I won, so that’s fine.

“First, we need to find Ilmina.”

I looked around, but I couldn’t see Ilmina.

I saw Liebert, Ilmina’s father and the Pope of this country, walking at the back of the room.

I called out to Liebert, who did not seem to have noticed me.

“Mr. Liebert.”

“Hmm? That voice…”

Liebert looked around and met my gaze.

“Haruto-dono, I am surprised to see you. Have you returned from the Galzio Empire?”

“Yes, just a while ago.”

At that point, Liebert’s gaze turned towards Char.

“I wonder if that person there is…”

Liebert must have realized who it was.

Char stepped forward and introduced herself.

“I am Charlotte von Galzio, second princess of the Galzio Empire. It has been a long time, Liebert-sama.”

Char made an elegant and beautiful bow.

“Charlotte, it’s been a long time. You have grown up a lot. I have heard rumors of your success. And you have had a hard time, haven’t you? I heard from Emperor Galzio that the capital was attacked by one of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Demon King’s Army.”

“Thank you very much. Thanks to Haruto, there were no casualties in the capital.”

“Yes, the emperor told me that too. So…”

Liebert continued to speak, glancing at me.

“Haruto-dono, I was wondering if Charlotte might be…”

I guessed he was asking if she was my fiancée.

“My fiancée.”

When I answered, Liebert nodded in understanding.

“Charlotte, too, after all? Well, I kind of had a feeling that way, but… that’s right. You all came to see Ilmina, right?”

“Of course. Where is Ilmina now?”

“She’s distributing food to the people who are rebuilding the city right now. I think she will be back soon. Please take your time until then. I have some business to attend to, so please excuse me.”

Liebert bowed his head. He was probably busy in his position as Pope.

“I’m sorry for stopping you in spite of your busy schedule.”

“Please don’t worry about it. I’ll see you all later.”

Liebert bowed his head again and walked away.

We remained in the cathedral, but we felt bad not doing anything while the sisters were busy, so we decided to help as much as possible.

The main tasks were cleaning and repairing the outside of the building.

However, with the use of magic, it was quick and easy.

While I was resting in the cathedral with the sisters thanking me, a voice called out to me from behind.
